Boston Blackie

Boston Blackie tv shows

Boston Blackie was a hard-boiled wealthy fellow who solves crimes when there seems to be no solution. His motto was, “Enemy of those who make him an enemy, friend of those who have no friend.” The Boston Blackie adventures were a popular radio show. There were also several Boston Blackie movies made in the early 1940's, and later became a popular television series for two years and 58 episodes from 1951-1953. The character was created by Jack Boyle in 1914 in a story titled, “The Price of Principle,” in the July 1914 issue of The American Magazine. Most of the shows featured Kent Taylor as Boston Blackie, Lois Collier as Mary his girlfriend, Frank Orth as the Police Chief, and Whitey, Blackie's dog.
