In 1952 WWII was finished, and the collection of countries that made up the Soviet Union became the 'cold war' enemy of western countries, including the U.S.Alan Hale Jr. is best remebered as the Skipper on the Gilligan's Island television show, but before that he was the jovial fellow who, along with his wife Louise, played by Randy Stuart, run a successful import business. Their business gives them access to many foreign lands, including behind the iron curtain, and in addition to running their import business they were spies for the U.S., aiding the cause of freedom wherever they could. The show ran on the CBS network in 1952 on Thursday evenings at 9pm Eastern time, opposite the hugely popular 'Dragnet' police show on NBC. The show only lasted for 21 weeks before it was cancelled, and the final 5 episodes of the season aired later in syndication.
